Mesne is operated by CoreXus LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company.

Mesne reads a property's recorded chain of title and drafts a title commitment from it, tracing every finding back to the record it came from. Your paralegals and attorneys review that work on Mesne's review surface before it's used.

What Mesne produces is a title examination — the research and the draft. It is not title insurance, and Mesne does not issue policies: issuing a policy is the underwriter's act, on the underwriter's forms. Mesne's examination is what your firm relies on to do that work in its own practice.

Mesne drafts; your licensed professionals review the work and are responsible for the work product. The software does the reading and the first draft; the judgment stays in your office.

The matters you create and the documents you upload belong to your firm. Mesne holds them to provide the service; it does not own them.

You can take your files out at any time. Any member of your firm who can open a matter can export it — a single file containing the matter's documents, the commitment, and an index. You don't need our permission or help to do it, and it's the same export that retrieves an archived matter.

Mesne is a workspace for your active files, not a permanent system of record. Keep your own copies of anything you need for your records — the same as you would for any file that lives in a tool your firm doesn't own. Mesne should never be the only place a document exists.

While a matter is open, it stays on your working surface with all of its documents. If you reopen a closed matter, it returns to your working surface and the clock below resets.

Thirty days after a matter is closed, Mesne archives it. Archiving moves the matter's documents off your working surface. It does not delete them — your original documents are kept. You can retrieve an archived matter at any time by exporting it, which gives you a single file containing the matter's documents, its commitment, and an index. Seven days before a matter is archived, if you haven't already exported it, Mesne shows you a reminder.

Archiving is reversible, and archived matters stay exportable. We do not currently delete archived documents; if that ever changes, we will say so here first.

The thirty-day timing is our current policy and we may change it with notice.

These terms are governed by the laws of South Carolina. Choosing South Carolina law does not limit where Mesne is offered or who may use it.
